Reflect the heat.
Seal the roof.
Protect what's under it.

ACC Weathering Membrane is a self-adhesive, six-layer aluminium & butyl membrane engineered to reflect solar radiation, waterproof the roof deck, and resist corrosion — in a single peel-and-stick layer. Terrashield Roofing brings it to builders, contractors and specifiers across the USA.

The Physics

Why roof surface matters more than roof color

Most roofing surfaces absorb solar energy rather than reject it. That absorbed energy becomes heat — heat that raises deck temperature, drives cooling loads, and accelerates material fatigue. A highly reflective surface changes that equation at the point of contact: the roof itself.

Conventional Roof Surface

Sun strikes the roof surface
Surface absorbs solar energy
Roof surface temperature rises
Heat conducts into the roof assembly
Interior cooling load increases

ACC Reflective Surface

Sun strikes the ACC aluminium surface
A high proportion of solar radiation is reflected (≥0.80)
Less solar energy is absorbed at the surface
Reduced heat transfer into the deck
Continuous butyl layer keeps water out
Three Functions, One Layer

Reflect. Seal. Protect.

01

Reflect

A reflective aluminium face engineered to turn away solar radiation before it becomes stored heat in the roof assembly. Tested to ≥0.80 solar reflectance under ASTM C1549.

02

Seal

A continuous, self-adhesive butyl layer bonds to the substrate, closing seams, laps and penetrations to form a monolithic waterproofing barrier — not a coating that can pond, crack or peel.

03

Protect

An anti-corrosion coated surface built to withstand acid-rain exposure, UV degradation and accelerated weathering — protecting the substrate beneath it over years of exterior exposure.

Product Technology

Inside the 6-layer ACC construction

Every layer of ACC Weathering Membrane performs a distinct mechanical or thermal function — from the exposed anti-corrosion face down to the release film removed at installation.

Anti-Corrosion Coating

01

The exposed weathering face. Formulated to resist acid-rain corrosion, chalking and UV degradation under prolonged exterior exposure.

Reflective Aluminium Foil

02

Delivers the membrane's high solar reflectance — ≥0.80 under ASTM C1549 — turning away radiant energy at the surface.

Film

03

A polymer film layer bonding the reflective foil to the reinforcement below, contributing tensile and tear performance.

Reinforced Non-Woven

04

Provides mechanical reinforcement — tensile strength ≥325 N/50mm (MD) and tear resistance up to 35N, per ISO 9073.

High-Performance Butyl Adhesive

05

A high-tack butyl layer that forms continuous, self-sealing adhesion to primed roofing substrates — the membrane's waterproofing core.

Release Film

06

Protects the butyl adhesive prior to installation. Removed on-site immediately before the membrane is applied.

Cool Roof Science

Why surface reflectance changes the equation

A dark, low-reflectance surface absorbs the majority of incoming solar radiation. A high-reflectance surface like ACC is engineered to turn a significant proportion of that same radiation away before it is absorbed. This is a conceptual illustration of the principle — not a measured temperature differential.

Conventional Dark Roof SurfaceLow reflectance · higher solar absorption
ACC Weathering Membrane≥0.80 solar reflectance · lower solar absorption

Illustrative comparison only. Actual roof-surface and interior temperatures depend on climate, roof assembly, insulation and ventilation.

Installation

Installation overview

A simplified sequence for reference only. Installers should follow the official ACC installation manual, including surface primer requirements and detailing procedures.

01

Inspect the roof and identify substrate condition and detailing requirements.

02

Clean and prepare the substrate — degrease, sand if required, wipe free of dust.

03

Apply ACC Multi-Surface Primer and allow to cure (approx. 12 hours).

04

Position the membrane, remove the release film, and apply to the primed surface.

05

Roll firmly for full adhesion; detail laps, seams and penetrations; inspect the completed install.
